Beautifully warm and softly sanded beaches are
trademarks of virtually all isles
of the Caribbean, particularly the more remote and less visited of possible
destinations. Compiled here are a variety of images from some such locales
within the Caribbean, Bahamas and the Netherlands Antilles, as well as
Baja Sur, Mexico. Enjoy them by clicking on the images to show an enlarged
view. Note that my photos are copyrighted as described below. Thank you.

Aruba
(Solar Eclipse Expedition 1998)

An ideal setting for a solar
eclipse, with warm and clear weather, one could not ask
for anything better. Solar eclipse images were shot prime focus through a 4 inch
apochromatic refracting telescope with exposures from 1/1000 to 1 second. Shorter
exposures reveal the Sun's inner corona and Diamond Ring Effect (above), as well as
Bailey's Beads (below).

St.
Maarten
Not only a jewel of the Netherlands
Antilles for its swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving,
St. Maarten has several other claims to fame. First, it is the only Caribbean isle
of dual
ownership, with one portion owned by the Dutch (St. Maarten) and the other half owned by
the
French (St. Martin). Additionally, St. Maarten offers some of if not the best photo
opportunities
for aircraft landing amid the azure waters and palms of Maho Beach.
